For those of you that will be down in Austin next week for SXSW, come out and join us for our annual SXSW showcase. This year’s party will take place on Wednesday, March 17th at Encore (611 Red River) in Austin, TX and will feature several great artists including MoZella, Scorpion Child, Sixteen Deluxe, and many others.

Scorpion Child will be appearing at SXSW next week, showing off their signature style of heavy, southern-infused rock. The band has been busy at work, prepping the follow up to their acclaimed EP Thy Southern Sting, which will take the power and fury of their sound to the next level. Scorpion Child has already shared the stage with Reverend Horton Heat, The Cult, …Trail Of Dead, Godsmack, and Cage The Elephant, to name a few.
The Texan hard rock veterans will be performing during the Worlds End showcase, which will take place on Wednesday, March 17th at 11:00PM at Encore. Be sure to add this one to your SXSW schedules, as it is sure to be a captivating and energetic performance.

Tanlines has just released their new EP, Settings, which is packed with powerful, poly-rhythmic percussion and tropical synth gems. The Brooklyn experimental pop duo is made up of ex-members of Don Cabellero and Professor Murder. The EP, which was released on True Panther Sounds, also features a collaboration with label-mate Glasser. If you haven’t yet heard this marvelous EP, be sure to check out the latest release to come out of Brooklyn that everyone is raving about.

Jukebox The Ghost will dazzle audiences at SXSW next week with their quirky songs and catchy melodies. In the past, the band has toured with many great bands including Ben Folds, Tokyo Police Club, and Ra Ra Riot, to name a few.
Jukebox The Ghost has been working with Worlds End producer Peter Katis (The National, Interpol) on their next album, which will be released sometime later this year. Now, the sensational indie-pop trio are ready to showcase new songs and old favorites to crowds at several venues at the renowned music festival in Austin this year. Our sister label, IAMSOUND Records has just announced the details regarding their showcase at SXSW 2010. The event will take place on Wednesday, March 17th at Malverde (400B W. 2nd St.) in Austin, TX. This year’s showcase, which is sponsored by BMI, will feature performances from some of the most anticipated artists appearing at SXSW this year including Fool’s Gold, Salem, Sleigh Bells, and JJ, as well as many others. In addition, there will be a DJ set by Little Boots and, back by popular demand, the event will be hosted by Rebecca Havemeyer.

MoZella’s song “Manhattan” will be featured on a new compilation released by Diane von Furstenberg titled Proud To Be Woman. The fashion mogul is releasing this collection to benefit Vital Voices, an organization dedicated to the empowerment of women. The release, which will be available on iTunes and at DVF boutiques worldwide on March 8th, features Christina Aguilera, Santigold, Joss Stone, Mary J. Blige and many other great artists and will correspond with International Women’s Day. To download the DVF compilation, click on the iTunes link below.
On March 16th, DVF will be hosting a a party to celebrate the Proud To Be Woman album release at their Los Angeles DVF boutique, which will feature a live performance by MoZella. Don’t miss this great opportunity to see a special performance by this amazing talent. Tanlines are just about ready to drop their highly-anticipated (and heavily-reviewed) EP titled Settings, which will be released on True Panther Sounds on March 9th. In a review of the single “Real Life”, Pitchfork most recently jumped onto the Tanlines bandwagon, calling the track “neon-synthed pop you could imagine going over equally well at a dance party or, seriously, a sporting event.” The tribal percussion and tropical ambiance that coats this entire record is sure to deliver an early summer this year.

Rumspringa will bring their stripped-down, groove-based rock music to Austin for this year’s SXSW music festival. They will be playing at the Cantora Records SXSW showcase at 12:00 midnight on Friday, March 19th at Maggie Mae’s Gibson Room. L.A.’s own Fool’s Gold is currently riding the wave of press that has been flowing in, as they gear up for their anticipated SXSW performance. Ever since the release of their self-titled debut album on IAMSOUND Records, Fool’s Gold has been highly-touted for their ability to flawlessly merge ethnic sounds with western pop aesthetics, creating a delightful blend of indie Afro-pop.
Check out this article from The Village Voice comparing the music of Fool’s Gold to the more traditional Tinariwen. Fool’s Gold recently opened for Tinariwen for a few New York shows, charming many lucky World Music enthusiasts who were lucky enough to catch these shows.

MoZella will be releasing a Deluxe Edition of her latest album Belle Isle on her own Belle Isle Records imprint. The Deluxe Edition of the album, which will feature a new track, exclusive acoustic tracks, and music videos, will be released on March 16th on iTunes.
MoZella will also be performing at the Worlds End 2010 SXSW showcase, which will be held at Encore on Wednesday, March 17th in Austin, Texas. She will hit the stage at 12:00 midnight.
