Ivan & Alyosha are now working on recording new music for their debut full-length album. The Seattle favorites have just announced a string of new tour dates down the west coast. Ever since the release of their debut EP The Verse, The Chorus, the response has been overwhelming. NPR recently featuredIvan & Alyosha as their song of the day and Rolling Stone has touted them as a slowed-down version of The Shins.
“But there’s more to ‘Easy to Love’ than mere likeability. A propulsive, sweetly booming ode to love as a feat of endurance, the song lays out a matter-of-fact guide to surviving hard times…before it even gets to its simple but irresistible chorus.” – NPR
“The Band:Ivan & AlyoshaThe Buzz: Smooth, soaring guitar pop from Seattle duo that is plaintive and pristine. Listen If: You’d be curious to hear what happened if the Shins slowed it down a bit. Key Track:“Easy to Love,” the perfect late Valentine for the mutually smitten.” – Rolling Stone

The Seattle-based Anglo-pop duo, Ivan & Alyosha have just released a video of an impromptu acoustic performance of “Beautiful Lie” at L.A.’s own Griffith Observatory. This acoustic performance maintains the depth and sincerity of the original song, accenting the band’s down-to-earth sentiment. The boys closed out 2009 with a December residency at the Seattle’s High Dive. The residency concept is not a new one, but it is rather uncommon in the Seattle music scene, making this a special treat for anyone in attendance. The Seattle Times recently reviewed these performances, calling Ivan & Alyosha’s music “buoyant, timeless pop”.
The group’s debut EP The Verse, The Chorus is now available from Cheap Lullaby Records. To request a copy or for licensing info, please contact creativelicensing@worldsend.com.
New to the W.E.C.L. family of artists, Ivan & Alyosha received a well deserved shout out in this months issue of Rolling Stone. The Seattle duo are just wrapping up their debut album due for release later this year.
