In his score for the PBS documentary, The Mosque In Morgantown, KAREEM ROUSTOM merged elements of Arabic, North Indian, W. Virginia bluegrass and electronica. Thus, it was this intricately constructed musical composition that earned KAREEM an Emmy Nomination in the category, “OUTSTANDING INDIVIDUAL ACHIEVEMENT IN A CRAFT: MUSIC & SOUND.”
ROUSTOM is an award winning composer and WORLD SEND client, notable for blending Western traditions with Middle Eastern elements. He has been an active participant in the film and television industry for many years, having collaborated with a wide variety of artists ranging from the Philadelphia Orchestra to Shakira. More recently, KAREEM is acclaimed for his work in Amreeka, which was nominated for 3 Spirit awards and the winner of the International Film Critics Award (FIPRESCI) at Cannes 2009.
Variety Magazine has hailed Julia Bacha’s documentary Budrus Has a Hammer as an “inspiring docu that stresses peaceful resistance as the best means of conflict resolution.” Kareem Roustom scored the film, also notably mentioned by Variety, as “a strong score which adds to the momentum and underlines key moments.”
