Guys and gals, the brand-new video from the Motown chanteuse MoZella is here – and it happens to be for one of my favorite tracks off the album, “Manhattan“! Take a look at this gorgeous video – I can almost feel the crisp fall air of the city as the camera follows her around the Big Apple. Directed and produced by Judi Krant, this video is a visual stunner.
Telepathe is headed across the globe this winter on a tour that spans two different continents – although they’ll actually be headed for warm weather down under. Here the first of a list of dates they’ll be performing. By the way, Julian Casablancas recently named Telepathe as an inspiration for his newly released solo album, and one of his favorite bands of the moment in separate interviews with Rolling Stone and NME. Uh-huh.

Did you? Did You Hear About The Morgans? stars Hugh Grant and Sarah Jessica Parker and follows them as an unhappily married couple who are forced to go into the Federal Witness Protection program after they witness a murder. Hi-jinks, hilarity, a whole lotta’ manure and could it be – love? ensue as they try not to kill each other in a tiny Wyoming town. MoZella provides the theme to this new rom-com with the appropriately titled “Let’s Stop Calling It Love“. Check out the trailer below.
thecocknbullkid is growing hotter by the minute. She was recently featured in a Nylon style article, and last night, her song “Boys And Girls” was broadcast on Gossip Girl. thecocknbullkid’s EP Querelle is out now on IAMSOUND Records.
MoZella wants you to have “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” – so much so that she recently popped into Last.fm’s offices and covered the classic holiday tune for your listening and viewing pleasure. Last.fm posted the video below of MoZella performing a lovely, stripped-down version of the song and I must say, I like it! MoZella’s been on a whirlwind of press and club dates in support of her new album, Belle Isle, but let’s hope she finds the time to cover some more classics like this before we all settle down for a long winter’s nap.
The IAMSOUND CMJ showcase received rave reviews and the buzz is continuing to grow around our sister label. Featured this week in NY Magazine and NME are none other than Fool’s Gold, Apache Beat, Suckers, and Telepathe, and our very own Paul Tao, manager of IAMSOUND, has a feature Buzz-o-meter interview in NME as well. Check out these white-hot bands – 3 of them listed in NY Mag’s “Top 40 Songs That Define The Sound Of Right Now” at NYMag.com and NME.com!
MoZella has been getting a lot of press lately with the release of her latest album, Belle Isle. The latest story comes from iProng magazine, a publication focusing on iPods, iPhones, music, podcasting, and social media lovers. More than a little funny considering MoZella’s latest single, “Magic (Oh Oh Oh)” is being used by Verizon in a campaign against iPhones promoting the new Droid phone. MoZella discusses that funny business (hint: she’s an iPhone lover) as well as growing up in Detroit, the home of her new label Motown, and her memories of Belle Isle. Check out the insightful interview HERE.
Rumspringa is being featured in a new blog from BMI featuring indie artists. The band, whom BMI describes as a “thrilling, liberating sound” just played to a packed house at the famous Roxy on the Sunset Strip over the weekend. To check out the feature on Rumspringa, go to BMI.com. The band is putting the finishing touches on their forthcoming album, out on Cantora Records, so stay tuned…
MoZella was featured at the end of last week’s episode of The City – just as Whitney’s ex Jay guilts her for hanging with a new crowd of friends, sob! Perfect song to end the episode – as Whitney tells her ex, “It’s my life,” the sweet, haunting organ intro of “Mahattan” seeps into the soundtrack, as MoZella affirms, “I’m moving to Manhattan, and I’m never looking back… again.” Go ladies! Check out the clip HERE. “Manhattan” is featured on MoZella’s new album, Belle Isle, out on Motown Records now.
