Paul Tao, label manager for IAMSOUND was interviewed about the upcoming series of limited run, split 7-inch singles that will feature some of best, up-and-coming local talent coming out of the Los Angeles local music scene. As Tao describes, “We wanted to do something to bring all sides of L.A. together and show the full diversity of what the city has to offer.”
Starting in March, the L.A. Collection will include exclusive tracks released each month from some of the hottest L.A. bands such as Fool’s Gold, Local Natives, Dead Man’s Bones, and Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros to name a few.

UK power pop quartet, Stars And Sons is getting ready to hit the road with Screaming Maldini for a brief UK tour that kicks off later in February. The band will be releasing their new single, “If It’s Good For Me” on April 5th, followed by their debut full-length album ‘Good Morning Mother’ due out on April 26th. These Brighton boys first came onto the scene in 2008 with their break-through indie pop anthem “In The Ocean”. Building off the momentum of their debut EP, the group has already toured in support of some great bands, including Dr. Dog, Hockey, and Okkervil River. Last Friday, MoZella caught up with her fans with an online performance (now streaming at USTREAM), featuring acoustic renditions of 12 songs off her albums ‘I Will’ and ‘Belle Isle’. Sporting a festive, sparkling red beret, the blond songstress took song requests from fans ahead-of-time and performed the most requested tunes live from her bedroom. The ever impressive Fool’s Gold are currently featured in this week’s NME. The group has just wrapped up a series of London performances to promote the anticipated UK release of their self-titled debut album on IAMSOUND Records. The Seattle-based Anglo-pop duo, Ivan & Alyosha have just released a video of an impromptu acoustic performance of “Beautiful Lie” at L.A.’s own Griffith Observatory. This acoustic performance maintains the depth and sincerity of the original song, accenting the band’s down-to-earth sentiment. The boys closed out 2009 with a December residency at the Seattle’s High Dive. The residency concept is not a new one, but it is rather uncommon in the Seattle music scene, making this a special treat for anyone in attendance. The Seattle Times recently reviewed these performances, calling Ivan & Alyosha’s music “buoyant, timeless pop”.

Epic indie rockers, Suckers have been named by MTV News as a band to watch in 2010. Long Island’s As Tall As Lions have announced that they will be heading out on tour in support of Cage The Elephant in February and March. This extends what has been an extremely busy touring schedule for the eclectic rockers, having just wrapped up supporting slots for MUTEMATH, Minus The Bear, Athlete, and Frightened Rabbits to name a few. The band is also scheduled to perform on Day 1 of Coachella on Friday, April 16th in Indio, California.

Our sister label, IAMSOUND Records has just announced that they will be partnering up with Pure Groove to release a series of split 7-inch singles exclusively featuring some of L.A.’s best up-and-coming bands including Fool’s Gold, Local Natives, and IO Echo to name a few. The first of the L.A. Collection will be released in March and will feature indie favorites Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros and Moonrats. IAMSOUND label manager Paul Tao explains, “As an L.A. label, we wanted to be able to bring together all kinds of music so people would see what L.A. has to offer.”
IAMSOUND will be partnering up with L.A. radio station, KCRW to promote the L.A. Collection.
