Worlds End is proud to welcome Scorpion Child to our management roster. The Austin locals have been catching local buzz for the last few years for their powerful sound and modern, yet authentic take on psych-rock. Their influences consist of a broad range of artists spanning several decades including Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, and The Cult.
Fresh off their spirited performances at SXSW 2010, ScorpionChild are currently wrapping up their debut album. We have new music, fresh out of the studio, and now available for master/sync licensing.

Los Angeles-based Fool’s Gold have just released their new music video for “Nadine”. Its no secret that the group has a wide array of musical influences, including African, Brazilian, British and American. When choosing the location for the video for “Nadine”, rather than going somewhere exotic, the Angelinos decided to pick a local landmark: a mausoleum at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery. Luke Top tells Spinner, “The song itself is a trance-inducing nod to early American R&B and Ethiopian soul music.”
The video, which was directed by Adria Petty (Tom Petty’s Daughter) and filmed in eerie black and white, is almost as haunting as the song itself. But the moment that Luke Top begins to croon his upbeat chants, you forget all about the fact that they’re in a cemetery and viscerally fall victim to their trance.
Fool’s Gold’s self-titled debut album is now available from IAMSOUND Records. To request a copy or for licensing info, please contact colin@worldsend.com or kevin@worldsend.com.

IAMSOUND Records’ jam-packed SXSW showcase was a smash hit, bringing plenty of praise for the magical night. The party featured some of this year’s most anticipated SXSW performances from many great IAMSOUND artists and buzzing bands such as jj, Sleigh Bells, and Fool’s Gold. In fact, the IAMSOUND party was the first American performance for Swedish act jj, the shy duo that exploded onto the scene last year, but still has never been photographed and doesn’t have a bio or MySpace.
Stereogum weighs in with the first review of the IAMSOUND showcase, posting the video below and focusing on Fool’s Gold’s performance. Seemingly blown away by the magnificence of Fool’s Gold’s set, Stereogum raves, “It was refreshing to start St. Patrick’s Night with this remarkably tight eleven piece.” Be sure to check out the video for insight into what makes this African-influenced collective so brilliant.
The Guardian seems certain that Brooklyn is “the USA’s hippest square-few-miles” and Tanlines may just be the hippest thing to come out of it. The duo have received rave reviews after releasing their debut EP Settings last week.
Tanlines is noted as one of the best new bands to come out of Brooklyn, although the pair have been remixing and producing other artists for quite some time. The Guardian states, “They sound like a cerebral take on a tropical dance troupe, their music full of Caribbean flavours and hypnotic rhythms, but it feels organic even though some of it is electronic.”
Tanlines are playing a string of shows this weekend at SXSW. For those of you in Austin this week – be sure to check out their 10:15 pm set tonight at the GLS Party, where they’ll be playing with other acts like Neon Indian and Ra Ra Riot, or catch them tomorrow at the Pop Montreal Showcase – they go on at 12 midnight.

MoZella thrilled the gathering fashion aficionados and women’s rights advocates at her in-store performance at the Los Angeles Diane on Furstenberg event that was hosted in honor of International Women’s Day. The event honored keynote speakers and Vital Voices ambassadors, Sally Field and Rebecca Lolosoli, who traveled from Kenya to discuss the women’s rights violations she has both witnessed and fought against in her home country. Vital Voices is an organization that advocates women’s rights across the world and is active in over 130 different countries.
MoZella opened her set with an intimate, stripped-down version of her tear-jerking “Twilight Girls”, followed by energetic, acoustic renditions of “Manhattan”, “Thank You”, and “More Of You”. Check out this article from Racked for a detailed account of the event.
MoZella’s “Manhattan” was recently included on a compilation put together by DvF in honor of International Women’s Day, called Proud To Be Woman. All the proceeds from the album, which features Christina Aguilara, Mary J. Blige, Estelle, and many others, will benefit Vital Voices and the work they are doing across the world. “Manhattan” is the highest downloaded single on the compilation album, which is now available on iTunes and in all DvF boutiques.
MoZella also just released a Deluxe Edition of her album Belle Isle, which features one new track and two exclusive acoustic versions of “Freezing” and “Thank You”. Also, there are many unreleased MoZella tracks that are now available for licensing.
